Please take the time to read this until the end – some of these details are graphic, but this is not the time to cover our eyes and stick our heads in the sand, but rather this is the time to face the truth, and it is time to take action.
“I think God would want us to go to war over this.”
My wife said those words to me last night as I was sharing with her the latest story coming out of Planned Parenthood, in which an ex-employee described the gruesome dismemberment and possible murder of a baby by removing its brain while its heart was still beating. You might say, “well that’s just abortion…happens every day in America thousands of times.” This is true – the sad reality is that for so many people in this country, this gruesome act has become commonplace, acceptable, normal, and many have been completely desensitized to it. And while I don’t differentiate whatsoever between a baby still inside its mother, and a baby outside its mother, this particular baby had its brain removed not while it was in its mother’s uterus, but rather while it was out on a table – again, while its heart was still beating. This is the description provided by this former employee:
“Hey Holly, come over here, I want you to see something kind of cool, kind of neat.” Holly, the former employee, said of the baby that it was “the most gestated fetus and closest thing to a baby I’ve seen.” She recounts what her colleague described as “kinda cool” when she took an instrument and “tapped the heart and it starts beating…I am sitting here looking at this fetus and its heart is beating and I don’t know what to think.” She said she wasn’t sure if the child was alive or dead but that it was mature, in good shape, and its heart was indeed beating. Because the baby was in such good shape, her colleague figured that they could “procure a lot from it. We’re going to procure a brain.” “Procure” is the industry term for when these workers harvest body parts for sale and profit in the market. They continued to “procure” the brain from this baby by cutting through its face with scissors, and then “discarded” the baby’s body into a biohazard container. Holly then realized that she was the only person to ever hold this little boy, and she was sickened to the point that she left her job.
“Kinda cool”? This is where we are in our culture. Listen to me: There is no confusion, there is no debate, there is no argument, and there is no defense for this action. This is not a political discussion and it has nothing to do with the rights of women. Let’s call it like it is: This is pure evil and it is outright cold-blooded murder, along with every other type of abortion.
One of the problems with the abortion dialogue is that the conversation inevitably transitions to distracting questions like: “What about women who were raped? What about incest? What if the life of the mother is in danger?” The truth is the medical community has largely conceded that there is rarely, if ever, a circumstance where the mother’s life would hinge upon whether or not the baby she is carrying is killed. In fact, between 1967 and 1990, only 151 abortions have been carried out to save the mother’s life, a figure amounting to 0.004% of all abortions – in other words, about 4 out of every 100,000. (Dr. Michael Jarmulowicz, cited in The Physical and Psycho-Social effects of Abortion on Women: A Report by the Commission of Inquiry into the Operation and Consequences of The Abortion Act, June 1994 p. 5). And most doctors today concede that medical advancements since 1990 have completely eliminated the need to abort a baby to save the mother’s life. In addition, investigations into the deaths of pregnant women since 1990 have concluded that killing the baby they were carrying would not have saved their lives. This simply is no longer part of the discussion. The conversation and debate will continue, but let’s face the truth and that is that the absolute overwhelming majority of abortions in this country have absolutely nothing to do with these rare circumstances, but rather have everything to do with personal convenience. “A baby would be an inconvenience to me, it will disrupt my comfortable life, and therefore I want to be able to kill it.” This is the cold, hard, undeniable truth.
What about the old argument that a “fetus” is not the same thing as a baby, and is, in fact, not “life.” Medical advancements since Roe v. Wade have completely annihilated this argument, showing that life is indeed living in the mother’s womb. 3D sonograms have given incredible insight into the advancement of this life. For example, we know now that as early as 8 weeks, all major organs are functioning, including the brain, the heart, the liver, the kidneys, etc. They have their own DNA, their own blood, their own organs, and their very own personalities are forming right there in the womb. We also know now that they blink, smile, drink the fluid in the amniotic sack, urinate, and they sleep. They suck their thumbs, they respond to sound, they dream, and they recoil from pain. After 21 months, most babies can survive outside the womb with help from doctors. These babies are alive, and there is no reason whatsoever that they would need to be killed.
We have spiraled out of control as a people and as a nation – even the most liberal and “progressive” nations around the world have far more stringent abortion laws, including the overwhelming number of western countries limiting abortions to the first trimester. The unfortunate reality is that we are leading the world both in the number of abortions, as well as the freedom, flexibility, and options for when, how, and why abortions should and can be performed. We are leading the world in the extermination of our unborn children. And now, with seven different videos from Planned Parenthood, we know that it’s not just murder, but it’s murder for profit through the harvesting of the body parts of the most innocent people in our world: babies.
I honestly can’t describe the feelings I have right now even as I write this – I am literally sick to my stomach and tears are welling up in my eyes. Where did we lose our way as a culture? When did it become acceptable to the people of this nation to murder a baby in cold blood to harvest its brain? Rather, for any reason whatsoever? How can we rationalize this with a straight face? The undeniable truth is that this argument has left the realm of rationality – it is no longer about the mother’s life, and the medical community has shown that indeed these are living beings – it is no longer about logic or reasoning or morality, but rather it’s about our selfish, self-centered, evil, selves, and this must be stopped.
Would God want us to go to war over this? I guess it depends on your definition of “war,” but I am 100% convinced that God would not have us stand by and do nothing. Many Jews were exterminated just a few decades ago and many good people stood by and did nothing. Today, babies are being exterminated, and here’s one chance to do something: tomorrow morning, Saturday August 22, from 9:00-11:00am, people will be gathering outside of Planned Parenthood facilities across the nation to protest the evil that this organization represents. We are not going to shame women getting abortions, but to pray for them, to make our presence known, and to hopefully begin and join a movement across this nation to stop this madness. Here is a link to the locations across America: http://protestpp.com/protests/.
